How we help

Client Pathway - What to Expect When you Visit

What happens when someone recommends my child and I should visit Kid Sense?

Identify possible need for OT
Parent, teacher or health professional raises a concern about aspects of the child's development.
First Contact
Parent or carer contacts Kid Sense to discuss the issues and arrange an Assessment. (Please note a medical referral is not required).
Letter, Map, Questionnaire
An information package is sent to you containing an appointment confirmation, map to the clinic’s location and background questionnaire(s) to assist in developing a profile of the child.
Assessment
An Assessment is conducted using the appropriate tests. The duration varies according to the child's presenting issues. The findings are discussed with the parent and an ‘Assessment Recommendations’ summary provided (facility dependent).
Report
Where requested, a detailed report is provided to parents and other allied professionals (eg teacher, Psychologist etc).
Treatment
Where required, an appropriate course of treatment is planned and recommended to parents. Treatment frequency may well reduce over time as improvements in skill development are made.
Review
After a period of no active treatment, a skills review is recommended to ensure that the improvements in skills development have been sustained.
Discharge
After successful maintenance of skills, the child is discharged from therapy. Client files are held for 10 years and then confidentially destroyed by a certified third-party.
