Client Pathway - What to Expect When you Visit

Identify Needs
Parent, educator, medical or allied health professional raises a concern about one or more aspects of the child's development.
First Contact
Parent contacts Kid Sense to discuss the issues and arrange an Assessment. (Please note a medical referral is not required).
Letter, Map, Questionnaire
An information package is sent to you containing an appointment confirmation, map to Kid Sense’s location and background questionnaire to assist the treating therapist to develop a profile of the child.
Assessment
An Assessment is conducted using the appropriate tests. The duration varies according to the child's presenting issues. The findings are discussed with the parent and an ‘Assessment Recommendations’ summary provided at the end of the session.
Report
Where requested, a detailed report is prepared and provided to parents and, with parental consent, to other carers (eg teacher, Psychologist, GP).
Treatment
Where required, an appropriate course of treatment is planned and recommended to parents. Treatment frequency may reduce over time as improvements in skill development are made.
Review
After a period of no active treatment, a skills review is recommended to ensure that the developmental improvements have been sustained.
Discharge
When it is evident that no further treatment will be required, the child is discharged. The Client File is kept in archive storage for a further ten year period, at which time the file is confidentially destroyed.
