dyspraxiaSpeech Pathology approaches and activities that can support the individual or their carers include:

  • Individualised program focusing on the individual needs of the child
  • focus on a high level of repetition and practice of sounds and movement patterns with correction, specific feedback and information about how and where the sounds are produced in the mouth
  • Use of visual, tactile and verbal cueing to help child with placement and movement of the articulators (lips tongue etc).
  • working on individual sounds and sequences of sounds
  • Using rhythm and melody
  • Use of sign language, pictures, symbols where necessary to help successful communication until a child can communicate effectively (i.e. be understood) with others using speech only
